Instagram is one of the biggest growing social media at the moment. Instagram pictures are being forwarded on Facebook and Twitter with beautiful filters and images that the user wants everyone to see. So if so many people are using Instagram for fun, why not use it to market your business?
Instagram is very easy to use. Take a picture, add a nice filter, make a catchy tagline and add a few hash tags. Upload the picture and wait for the likes to roll in! But if it is so easy to use, why are there still companies who do not use it?

Instagram is purely based on visuals and visuals are in a lot of ways better to communicate a message with than texts. With the constant flow of information it is very important for a marketer that the message is processed in a short amount of time. An image is faster processed than text.
Images appeal to emotions and can go cross-culture. In a lot of ways, Instagram can be useful for your company because of what it offers. It allows the user to use hash tags to get involved with the company. It is also a way to show the audience what you want them to see. With that one flash of a thumb-scroll your message can be processed through the mind of your followers, just with the use of one single image! Isn’t that great?
Instagram is also useful because it is so easy to use. The lack of extra features is the good thing about this application. We already have Facebook with all private messages, likes, check-ins etc. It is very refreshing to just scroll through pictures from friends, celebrities, companies or just random people who use hash tags that you like.
How can you use Instagram for your business?
With Instagram, you can give your followers a better insight in your company. Make a story; show what the company is all about. It can be more personal by showing employees working, projects or even after-work drinks or you can keep it more corporate by posting pictures of the workplace and official meetings. With Instagram you can keep a diary of what the company is doing all day and you can give the followers more insight in what the company is doing and who the people in the company really are.

Start using Instagram for your business! It is a fun way to communicate with followers and a nice way to tell your story. Personally, I have the feeling that Instagram is more intimate than Facebook or Twitter. I follow a lot of bigger companies like NSMBL and Lush and it does feel like they tell their companies story. Also the hash tagging does work. I once posted a picture of some products that I bought from Lush and I hash tagged them. Immediately I got 6 new followers and 20 more likes from people who were involved with Lush cosmetics. It’s funny how it works, but it does.
So if you don’t have Instagram yet, start using it! If you do have Instagram, start using it more! There are so many stories to discover, and when you do that, don’t forget to post a nice picture with some hash tags!
