In one of my earlier blogs I spoke about Facebook Advertising, but let’s not forget about twitter. With 214 million active users (unfortunately there’s about 20 million fake users) is still part of the biggest social networks in the world. In the image below you will see some of the coolest facts of 2014, the most retweeted tweet and most followed celebrity.
But besides these cool facts, what are the possibilities of Advertising on Twitter?
I think we have all seen them, the promoted tweets on Twitter. You can recognize them by the little yellow arrow below the tweet. See image below.
There is two reasons why to use promoted tweets. People either use it to drive traffic to their website, usually these tweets have a clear call to action such as offering coupons or offer sales and promotions.Other reasons to use promoted tweets could be to drive awareness for your business usually these kid of tweets promote awareness around events and product launches, connect with influencers and expand the reach of their content.
Where do you see these tweets? Usually these tweets appear either in your timeline or in the search results.
Below an example of how these ads look in the search results.
But if they do not search for it how will users see ads in their Timeline?
Luckily Twitter only shows that are actually relevant to a user’s interests. Twitter is able to select this by looking at who they follow, what they retweet and how people interact on Twitter. So you’re sure that people see relevant ads.
Another important aspect of these promoted ads is that the twitters users can simply just click on dismiss after seeing the ad. This way they will not be annoyed by all the Ads on Twitter.
Twitter charges promoted Tweets with the CPE cost model, meaning you will only pay when there is an engagement. When someone clicks a link, a video or a hashtag you will have to pay
Promoted accounts are accounts that Twitter suggests to users. These are accounts that those users are currently not following but might be interesting for them.
Promoted accounts have the power to expand your followers. By growing your follower base you are able to increase brand awareness, drive purchases and web traffic. Very useful!
Twitter gives you the opportunity to focus on accounts that are relevant to the user’s followers, but Twitter also let’s you target by interests.
See the example below to see what these promoted accounts look like.
You pay Cost per follower, this means that you only pay when someone decided the follow you after seeing the ad.
Promoted Trends appear on the top of the trending topic list, only difference is that they are promoted by advertisers. When you choose to use promoted trends on twitter your # will be there for 24 hours and when users click on the trend your promoted post is on top!
Hopefully after reading this blogpost you will now have an idea of the possibilities of Advertising on Twitter.
Goodluck and enjoy!
