Music and fashion have always been closely connected. For some people they might even be inseparable. Both forms of self-expression provide a basis for innovative ideas and collaborations, which have been combined increasingly. Here are three awesome cross-industry projects every fashion and music enthusiast should know.
Patta X Dekmantel
Both Dutch labels, originated in Amsterdam, have been working on their collaboration since June 2015. Dekmantel is known for its’ festivals and parties featuring artists like Marcel Dettmann and Ryan Elliott, while Patta’s street wear has been one of the most influential in the fashion scene of the Dutch capital. The Dekmantel X Patta Capsule Collection is dedicated to the Dekmantel Festival 2015 and consists of six pieces including T-Shirts, a hoodie, a long sleeve shirt, a bucket hat and a waist bag – everything you need to be fully equipped for the next festival season. The graphic elements comprised in this collection reflect both brands’ young creative spirits behind the design. What makes this project particularly special is the fact that the clothing line was publicized in four individual releases, each accompanied by one of four collectible vinyl EP’s. Dutch artists such as Tom Trago, Interstellar Funk and Young Marco, who were also playing at the Dekmantel Festival 2015, have worked on the tunes for these limited records. B∆SS Clothing X Hausmade
B∆SS Clothing is a British street wear label working closely together with the bass and house music scene in the UK. In March 2015 they have started a collaboration with upcoming DJs like NOVA, which boosted the brand’s approach to electronic dance music and ultimately led to their own record label ‘eatmybeat’. The ‘Hausmade: Bass Clothing Sessions’, a series of guest mixes by B∆SS DJs, have been a huge success. The effective merging of fashion and music also revealed during the events hosted by B∆SS Clothing, which regularly take place in London’s best venues. Long Clothing X Pussykrew X Visionist
Recently, Long Clothing has announced a new cooperation with Pussykrew and Visionist. Pussykrew, a digital arts duo based in Berlin, has released a video supporting the new Long Clothing line with its’ extraordinary visuals representing the collection perfectly. The deep house tracks of UK producer Visionist encourage the illustrations audio-visually and round off the merging of the different art elements. The collection focuses on the liquid, fantasy theme expressed in the video and features bomber jackets, long sleeve shirts and jumpers. This cooperation between fashion, music and visual art is one of the first projects uniting these different forms of art and will be model for many more to come.
