Good morning followers!
I haven’t been writing for a while, I’m sorry about that, but I had my fair reasons! I went snowboarding for a few days at La Molina, my favourite ski resort I told you about in my last blog. Really, so lovely being back outside again, with great weather conditions and even better company! I went for a few days in a row, which I usually don’t do. La Molina is only a 1,5-hour drive from Barcelona, I’ve been to Barcelona a lot, so I usually would go for one day.
Sore sore sore
What I noticed even more now than usual, is that my legs were getting so sore! A plus was that I slept like a baby every night because I was so tired of all the boarding. Hitting the slopes as soon as they were open, taking the last lift to go back down… Nevertheless, getting out of bed as smooth as getting into it would be a nice incidental. Therefore, I’ve been doing some research on how you can avoid getting your legs so sore.
Diet or no diet?
I’m not a big fan of the word diet, it suggests a strict, calorie counting scheme, in my point of view. But, since there’s no other appropriate word for it, I’ll just use the word diet. Long ago I already decided to quit eating sugar, it resulted in more energy, feeling happier with myself and a better skin. Thus, I would definitely recommend this. But, like you all might understand, after boarding all morning a big glass of Fanta or Coke is so appealing! Working out all morning, using a lot of energy. Your body screams for some sugar! I usually solve this need by eating a banana (I know I know, I very much sound like a caring mother now…), or another piece of fruit. And now comes the best part: eat that chocolate girl! The darker the chocolate the better. It is actually proven that eating a piece of dark chocolate a day is good for your brains! Another advantage, dark chocolate doesn’t melt as fast (in your pocket) as light or white chocolate. You might have to get used to the taste of it, but nowadays I don’t even like milk or white chocolate anymore.
Coffee, what else…
Another funny thing I came across: instead of those protein powders and shakes, a cup of espresso has the same effect. Whether it is a fact or a myth… I don’t know. If you have more information about it, please let me know!
Last but not least
Stretching! After running I always cool down with some stretching. Somehow, with snowboarding I always
forget, even though it is very important, it really helps to relax your muscles.
Once again, I’d like to say, eat healthy! It really energizes your body and mind! I really like to bake with ingredients like oatmeal, banana, cacao and dates. If you guys are interested in getting recipes, please let me know in the comments below!
See you next week! I’ll be writing about how to maintain your snowboard without having to go to a shop! DIY!
Love, Jacquie
Hey Jacquie,
great tips to recover from that horrible sore! I like snowboarding myself but the sore the next day is always annoying. I will definitely try your recommendations the next time I go boarding, or even after the gym. As a coffee lover, I also really hope that your information is true and not only a myth!
