As you know, I love writing about the newest trends, gadgets and apps. The new trend I will write about today is a gadget combined with an app. I am talking about the Grasp Lock: a lock for your bicycle where your fingerprint is the key.
Picture this: the rain is pouring down on you and your key does not want to fit the lock. You are already late and you slowly get frustrated trying to open your lock. This new gadget would be the solution to those kind of problems.
The Grasp is not the first piece of technology that uses your fingerprint as an identification. Many iPhone-users already use this to unlock their phone. The technique slowly becomes more popular, but will it be effective for a bike lock?
Double the fun
But what if you and your friend would like to share a lock? No problem, there is a solution for everything. With a special app connected to the Grasp you can activate your lock, but you can also add another person and his or her fingerprint to the lock. This way both of you can open and close the lock. Let’s just hope you can trust your friends…
I think this is very fun and creative way to open your lock. In the video the creators also showed how strong the lock is and I am convinced that thieves will have a hard time stealing my bike when using the Grasp.
Just a project
For now the new gadget is just a project part of the crowdfunding website Kickstarter.com. Their goal is to collect 75,000 dollar before the 9th of January 2016. So far almost 60,000 dollar is pledged by all the backers. It is not even sure if the creators from Canada can raise enough money to actualize the project. The only downside is you have to pay 138 dollar for a lock.
Are you willing to pay this?
