Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your holiday. I had a small dinner gathering at my apartment with some Taiwanese friends over the Christmas/New Year holiday. They had been saying how much they missed food from home, so I decided to make a dish called “Hot Pot” for them.
Have you ever tried Fondue? If yes, you can think of Hot Pot as an Asian style of Fondue. I will simply explain the dish and how you should eat it. You set a pot of sim
mering broth, place it on a portable heater in the middle
of the table. People sit around the table; put meat, vegetables, seafood and all other ready to be cooked food in the broth based on what each person wants to eat.
Hot Pot is one of the most popular dishes for friends and families gathering in the winter. It is consider a very cozy and social of way dining, because everyone will be sharing one big pot of meal and while waiting for your meat or vegetable to be cooked, you have plenty of time to sit and talk and simply enjoy some good quality of time.
Ok! Enough of introduction, let get to how can we make yummy Hot Pot! As mentioned before, it is basically like fondue, so you cook or heat the meat, seafood, or vegetables you want to have in the Hot Pot. Therefore, broth is the only thing you need to prepare, and it will only take you less than 20 minutes.
