I have told you about 3 awesome places where I have been. And not the touristic places but special unseen places in those countries. And you are lucky because this week we are going to talk about another destination; unseen places in Australia. Go down under, down under with me.
Don’t stay home, explore Australia!
In Bali the atmosphere was calm but down under the people are even more relaxed. The sphere in Australia is the most relaxed one you will experience. When you are walking on the street with a map and you are looking around, there always be a person who will help you to find your way. The whole life of the community is outside, dinners, parties and sports. It is a huge country and quite touristic and still I have some unseen places in Australia.
Nimbin is a little village on the east coast of Australia, known as the hippy village. There is an explosion of colours and people who have an extremely open mind. It is amazing to wander around here and talk with the people living in this totally secluded village. They have completely different views on the world and what is important in life. If you want to experience the nineties go there, and enjoy.
Wilsons promontory national park
The way between Sydney and Melbourne is not very enervating, but one place is. Wilsons promontory national park is in most southern tip of the country. The nature here is astonishing, and very green which is exceptional for Australia. You can choose to do a hike through the park. And get refreshed, at one of the beaches. You are completely alone enjoying the light blue colour sea and white sand. When you walk further you will see some kangaroos and koala’s. What else do you want more? Yes, a place to sleep. There is a solution for that, there are cabins in the park with a view over the Tasman sea.
If you want to see flock mini penguins, you have to go to Philips island. During the day they are in the water but when it becomes dark they all go back to there burrows underground. They go in the night because during the day it is too dangers for them, they can not run fast and there are raptors in this areas. You can sit at the beach and watch those cute penguins come home.
The last unseen place in Australia I will tell you about is the desert, now you think that is quite broad. Let me explain, you have the Ayers rock which is very known. But you also have the red canyon, it is a canyon of red stones. You can do a day hike here and cool down in a water in the middle of the canyon. On this trip you sleep in the open air in a “swag” this is a sleeping bag that is made for outside use. Or you sleep underground in Coober Pedy. This is a village which is build underground because it is too hot otherwise. The inhabitants work as minors (gold and stone) so they barely come in the open air. It is very special to experience the life in the desert.
Little things you need in Australia
Sun cream – the sun is so strong here because there is a hole in the ozone Layer
Satin sleeping bag – this is the most convenient, coolest and light option you can choose and it is not expensive. For the dutchies here you can just buy it at Bever sport
Food for on the way – the distances are big in Australia and there are not often places for food.
I hope you will go down under down under and seen the unseen places in Australia after reading this week’s blog! If you have tips or tricks please let me know. Or if you just want to comment feel free to write something!
