Hi everyone 🙂
In today’s blog post I’ve decided to give a sneaky peak of the Hanyang University Seoul Campus! I will show you some photographs of how the campus looks like, give you tips on how to get around, as well as share a video with you that I have made with my friends with a guided tour through the facilities.
When I first arrived it took me quite some time to get used to finding my way around the campus. Not only it is very big, but there are also hills everywhere. Bring hiking shoes and prepare to work out 🙂
In my First month I carried around this little guy (see photo of the map below) literally everywhere! Oh, first and essential tip – make it a mission for yourself to find a campus map. You can ask for it at the international office. Or you can download an online version on the official Hanyang website. Trust me, you will thank me for this.
The campus is huge – plan your time
As an exchange student, you will be given a chance to select your subjects from different faculties. Which is actually a lot of fun. I had classes from the Business and Arts departments at the same time. The problem with it is that, since each department has it’s own building, sometimes you will have classes in the different parts of the campus. If you want to be on time for your lecture, it is very important to keep in mind the distance between the different locations. Sometimes it took me around 20 minutes to walk from my class to another.
You will never stay hungry
Food is a big part of the Korean culture. While in Europe the standard much meal for a student would be a sandwich or a salad, in Korea students definitely fancy more variety. Not only almost all the big buildings at the campus have cafeterias, where you can buy a nice home cooked meal for just 3-4 euros, but there are also many convenient stores at your every step where you can get all sorts of snacks and drinks.
My favourite spot for “lunching” was the Hanyang Plaza. It has 2 cafeterias, a convenient store, 3 coffee places, a fast food joint and many many more.
In fact, the Hanyang Plaza is a magical place. Not only you can satisfy an type of stomach at one of the food spots, but you could also get your pictures taken there, print documents, buy electronics and even get your nails done 🙂
Watch the video – take a quick tour of the campus!
There are so many things that I could tell you about the campus, For example I could tell you that it has more coffee places than gyms; oh actually describe the sporting facilities. However, to finish up this blog post I have decided to actually show you how the campus looks like with this video that I have made with my friends. It takes you through almost the entire campus, explaining what everything is step by step.
Hope you enjoy it and let me know if you have any questions about other campus facilities that you are curious about in the comment section below!
